Special issue: Imagination and literacy.
The theme of this Special Issue is drawn from the 9th Pan-African/10th Literacy conference by the Reading Association of South Africa in September 2015. It arose from an awareness that the imagination as a meaning-making faculty receives remarkably little attention in literacy education, where standardised national curricula focus mainly on cognitive development. The articles focus on conceptualising imagination in literacy education across a range of contexts and levels, and suggest ways in which literacy education can be enriched.
